Dovetail chisel

Hi im new in woodworking i want to know the difference between a Paring chisel and a dove tail chisel?

Be wary. I looked at chisels a few months ago, and found that there is not a common terminology. Here are two links to descriptions of different types of chisels. Note that they do not completely agree with each other. Search for the word "dovetail" in the various web pages, and you will see issues with the term "dovetail chisel".

My understanding is the difference is the grind. A “dovetail” chisel is ground to the center, whereas a “paring” chisel is ground straight. I have never used dovetail chisels. I cut my dovetails on the table saw and then clean up with a paring/carpenters chisel. Keep a scary sharp edge on your chisel and it will get the job done whatever profile you settle with.
