Incra Track System for SCMS

I’m interested in installing the Incra Track system and shop stop on my DeWalt DW717 10 SCMS. In looking at the installation manual (see attached file), they suggest mounting the track on a box system with a short (< 2" fence). For me this is impractical, as my "shop" is quite small and my saw is mounted on a Ridgid miter saw stand and is folded up and placed in a corner when not in use.

I really like the Incra Track system and would love to install it on my saw, but short of drilling and tapping into the saw's base, I can't think of any other way to do this.

Anyone have any ideas?

I didn't mention earlier I also built melamine extensions for my SMS portable stand with the threaded inserts to slide the Incra track onto the box extensions. The tracks are expensive so the three foot and four foot track move around in my shop or when I'm out on site.

What do you put into the tracks. I cannot imagine just what tool could be useful. George
Not sure I understood the question.
I bought the L brackets with T nuts and out in threaded inserts on:
Bench mount SMS in shop
Portable side boxes on SMS extensions
From time to time I've used one on a sled for the TS and drill press.

The question is: just what do you use these tracks to mount?

I can think of no accessory that I would use on an SCMS that would require tracks. We are not discussing table saws or any other tool. Only the SCMS. What accessory do you use?

The only accessory I can think that ever use is a clamp and I do not need a track for that.

there are many T tracks ....

I don't see how you can make a "temporary" fence that would be accurate and not attached to the base of the saw or the saw's fence. Your side supports whether the saw's or additional one's on the stand would support any add on fences, but there's not an easy way to attach them that I can determine.

My folding Dewalt older style, Miter Saw stand has sliding supports for the length and height, but no way to attach any thing to them. Most T track applications are for a built in table and fence system, not a portable stand. This one is mobile however.

I would also not pay anything excessive for special T tracks (Incra) as they are pretty common:

That's fine, but not on a folding stand

Your original post stated you wanted to use a Rigid folding stand, but needed ideas on how to attach it.....
Probably not gonna' happen, but a 'built in" will work fine with side extensions..... as shown above and in my post.

Can you do that?

I was referring to the Incra fence. I'm attaching stops to the fence for repetitive cuts. Glancing at the the photos posted, I thought that's what was being referred to.

not sure I follow either. You wouldnt have a feather board on a miter saw. Clamp maybe? stop block I suppose?
I noticed half my other post didn't go through before my battery died.

For the record in my unclarity:
My SLMS has a home on the shop and on a portable stand. I use the Incra FENCES with both set ups. The fences are used for stops only. I like the Incra stops that also fit my miter gages, TS sleds and router table fence. I could use the top track on the fence for attaching a clamp but haven't bothered.

I have also used the same Incra fences (3' and 4') with bench dogs as a fence on my Festool MFT table for making respective cuts.
