My hunt continues, Ive read decent things about central machinery jointers... no longer sold I dont think. but people seem to think it was a good budget jointer? compared to similarly priced craftsman units, it certainly looks more capable...

The BATNA is a $550 Grizzly or continued CL searching (which isnt the end of the world).

What would people think of that one above for $200?

Its very close by which is appealing...

The last time I saw one of those jointers was the floor display in the store they had marked down to $250.00 trying to make it sell. The jointer looked pretty good to me but at the time I was looking for a 12" jointer. I think the HF jointer was better than the craftsman jointer I was using.

Looks very similar to the jet 6" that I have. A lot of those were made in the same factory and painted a different color and sold under various names. I believe geetech still has some new old stock of that model that they are selling.

My jet works well but it would be nice to have a 8"

yeah, I would love an 8" but first, man thats alot of cash. used I dont see them much less than $800. And then even if I find a crazy steal, theres the space... they are just huge, which is the point, but man... I would be boxing myself in (literally).

As it is, Im trying to figure out how I would get a 350lb planer off the trailer... At best Im thinking I would need to build a mobile base while its still on the trailer, and then roll it down a ramp... these things look pretty top heavy though.
