gedereco, 10 foot wide is kind of narrow for a shop. If you are cutting sheet goods, you will be very limited on space, especially if you build cabinets or work benches on the side walls. If it were me, I would probably go with something at least 20 x 24 to make sure I had enough room to work. As far as layout and tool placement goes, do a search on google for wood shop layouts or something to that effect.
Of course, you will have to decide what tools you will be working with before you build anything, ie tablesaw, jointer, planer, shaper, drill press, miter saw, etc. Hope this helps.
