Like many DIY people, I have a small garage with not a lot of space. I was searching for a compact and portable workbench, and the internet provided a few ideas. Ron Paulk and the Smart Bench came up, and Timothy Wilmots and the MFTC was also an option.
But in the end I decided to make my own. I had a DeWalt 7491 table saw, and I designed a rolling cart that combined storage, a workbench, and was at the right height to act as outfeed for the table saw.
I ended up selling both the table saw and the rolling cart. And I started containing my tools in Milwaukee Packout toolboxes. (The 2-and-3-drawer boxes are especially handy and modular.) And so my version 2 of this rolling design is still a cart with drawers, but now they contain Packout S/M/XL toolboxes.
The design and process was challenging and fun, and I kept the 3D SketchUp model and my assembly steps. If anyone is interested in making one of these for their own use, I have the plans available.
