Does anyone know if the Woodriver and the Steel City mortisers are identical? They look alike on the outside, but could be different on the inside, different chisels, better Q.C. etc.

The Steel City costs about $100 more, and has a longer warranty. Is the extra $100 because it is a better machine or because it has a longer warranty period and will thus have more warranty claims? I like the slots on the table as it allows you to add better hold downs.

Thanks,
Don

WoodRiver is Woodcraft's brand name. They likely contract with the manufacturers who make the tools for other companies.

It is possible the WoodRiver mortiser is the same machine as Steel City's, at least in outward appearance.

No telling what differences may lie within.

looks like it's the 4 additional years of warranty that's the primary cause of the cost differential.
