Bought this old sear lathe yesterday not sure if it was a good idea. The head spur is wore out not sure if I can find one. Any help would be great thanks.

You can find a replacement if you know the taper of the headstock. Likely MT1 - assuming it is tapered.

Another need to search the forum, not the first time someone asked how to tell whether MT1 or MT2.

I don't think I have a tapered one it screws on and off. The spur screws on to a 3/4 threads.

You could consider purchasing a 4 jaw chuck, then you have lots of options for how to hold different projects.

This is a good deal for a chuck.

I got no clue the threads measure 3/4 in across and I count 7 threads in the half that I count on there. the pipe I put on there is 1/2 in with 14 tpi black pipe. Wish I new which plate would just screw on there's a million sizes and tpi. Or a drill chuck

Likely you have 3/4in dia x 16 tpi. You need a spindle adapter like this one to get to a more common size 1in dia x 8 tpi.

Once you get to a common size then you can buy a spindle tap which will allow you to make your own wooden faceplates.

You are going to be extremely lucky if that is running anywhere near turn with that set up.
