Friend of mine just had his deck rebuilt with pressure-treated pine and now wants me to build an enclosure around his BBQ grill. Once it's built he wants to paint it black to match the grill. Is Pressure treated pine the right type of wood if he's going to paint it?

I have read that paint does not adhere well to PT lumber.

If this is going to be painted, I would use normal construction lumber, look for kiln dried, still will not be as dry as I prefer.

I have painted pressure treated and if the circumstances are right it will hold paint. It must be dry wood. It also must be well primed. May need two coats.

I like the redwood/cedar route vs black paint. I think a black painted enclosure will look "awful."
