I'm by no means an expert, but it doesn't look like the cypress I have. Maybe another variety of cypress than what I've got. I have some kiln dried cypress, but it's alot lighter in color and is not sticky at all.

Does it have a strong smell. Very nice piece of wood by the way. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

We are not sure the size of the tree or where it was cut from. The wood has been sitting in someone's basement for many years; it was about to go into the wood stove but got put aside for me.

Looks a little like Camphor. the smell is the giveaway
