Ok, the last couple days..

Got tired of just piling everything on a Rubbermaid cart next to the Lathe, so I put this together.

SWMBO wanted a new paper towel dispenser mounted under a kitchen cabinet. This was to replace a stand up one on the countertop that had broken. No biggie, right? So first off, I measure the thickness of the bottom of the cabinet: 3/8". A bit thin for the 1 1/2" screws that came with the towel rack. The fixture was 1/8" thick in the mounting holes so 1/2" screws are needed. Not an issue as I have a big jug of self tapping screws of all sizes. Naturally the points of two of the three screws penetrated the inside of the cabinet bottom. A few seconds with the motor tool ground the points down and the shelf liner covers the little damage. I know, I should have made a base for the dispenser and glued it to the underside of the cabinet and used longer screws, and I will if the thing pulls loose. I just was in a bit of a rush to get the thing mounted.

Very nice. I have my chisels on a rack that sits opposite me across the lathe and accessories are on a pegboard. But now with my extending the bed 2 ft I have to move the lathe, so I need a total reorganization.
And I've done nothing so far today except PT for my back, pet the puppy and drink coffee.

My PLAN is to weld the new tabletop for the lathe. I have it clamped up and ready to spot weld and the spirit was willing but...
I used my Bosch miter saw to cut 3" Celotex PVC storm drainpipe into the necessary lengths - a 40T bladse cuts real clean. The recent heavy rains in Cali propmted this project, diverting one downspout to avoid flooding the crawl space.
Almost done with this desk, looking forward to clearing up the space, cleaning and reorganizing the shop, and getting on to the next project.

Little more progress on the saw bench/cart

This spalted silver maple is probably gonna twist. It was alive, right outside my bathroom window 3 months ago.

But it's been dimensionality stable for about 2 of those months. I clamped 4 of those up and left them on my kitchen radiator for a week.

Either way, I made that side of the fence adjustable in case it moves.

While I was waiting for glue to set, I made this little thing with some scrap pine to hold my glue bottle upside down.

I shouldn't have stained it. It looked better bare wood.

Nice little caddy - do you have any "prybars" to go with it ?
Liquid Bottle Wood Fluid Bottle cap

I made one originally to help remove the oil cap on my Jeep Wrangler - then, to find out it fits the glue bottles just as easily.
And your cart is coming along nicely !!

Thanks.

I have to use channel locks to unscrew the oil cap on my Dodge van.
It was one of those stupid things that click when they're tight. I guess they're afraid you're going to break it if you over tighten it. That part came off and it's just a little plastic disc, almost flush with the valve cover.

It's one of those simple little things that are inexpensive, just a quick stop at the auto parts store, but I can never remember to do it.

Desk complete. PITA to get in the house (lesson learned : make sure your project will fit through all hallways).
Client (wife) doesn't really like it.

Well.... Better luck next time I guess.

With the project... Not the wife selection 😅

Put the finishing touches on the latest model truck. This one is patterned after a '29 Ford Model A with a Huckster body. The Automobile Gallery here in town has one that I was able to take pics of. My plan is to check with the Gallery to see if they would like to display it or possibly use it in a fundraiser auction. Most of the wood is yellow birch and oak with black walnut for the seats and running boards with maple for the "bright metal" on the grill, headlights and hubcaps,

There's a couple of pine 1x4s under that, that'll transfer the weight to the drop ceiling grid instead of the panel.

So much fun stuff others have done. I installed Corian toilet partitions all week. My whole body hurts, enough that I'm thinking about taking Friday off.

A bit of an excersize in futility... A friend gave me a Sears/Craftsman mobile base. I plan to use it for my table saw. It was purchased on clearance by his dad and was labeled "missing parts" Well most of it is there but I am making the missing parts. It's missing the cam levers and the plates that raise and lower the front castors. Also need to find the feet the base sets on when lowered. I've changed the design on the cams twice now.

I beefed up a 25 year old 2 story desk I built when I was a teenager, so it doesn't rock or wiggle, and I added wheels.

Table repairs again, today. Glue up finished last night.
Double tape some old cloth backed wall veneer for step 1. Blue painters tape for step 2. Sharpen the shoulder planes, adjust the mouth almost closed on the adjustable one. Make fuzz shavings.
About 1/100" repair area still proud of the surrounding veneers.
Time to resharpen the scrapers.
