Antique tool Wood Brass Metal

Metal

Saw these at a local shop. Box had ten irons like this and two skewed rabbit plane blades. The ones in the picture had thick steel At the cutting end that tapers to the top. The tops were flattened as if they had been hammered.

They are the irons from a Plough plane the only thing is that they are not inter changeable,IE the irons from one plane maker wont always fit another makers planes.

Its all to do with the slit you can see in the iron that must pass to a steel plate on the plane.

$50 isn't terrible if in decent shape. The cheaper the better though, right?

Sandusky is a pretty common plough, another very common thing is a plow with no irons so if you are having thoughts of having a plough it might be smart to snag them.

The irons and or plane can be reworked to fit each other if need be.
