Thanks guys for advive , now ifi don't go with HVLP what next with regards to a compressor and amount of scfm , gallon ect
The scfm would largely depend on what you are doing. If you are painting a house you would need a bunch but if you are finishing a mantle clock a pancake compresser would do. I have a harbor freight 4hp 10 gallon compressor which delivers 4.5 scfm at 100 psi that would do most home shop work. I even used it to finish painting half of a two story house when my other compresser went on the fritz. I had to frequently stop and wait for the compressor to catch up but it got the job done. My other compresser is a 1 hp speedaire compresser that delivers 5.5 scfm at 100 psi. It will do any of the cabinet and furniture finishing I need. I recently refinished someones kitchen and used to to spray the cabinets and doors with it. Then for the shop I have a Ingersoll Rand compresser that delivers 24 scfm at 175 psi. I've never been able to run it out of air even sandblasting.
