I was walking through the shop looking for wood to turn some more spheres and this bowl just yelled out at me. Seriously, it is a really odd shaped piece of wood a club member gave me years ago. Never knew what to do with it. The I just saw it and knew what it should be. Don't know if the wood talked to me but how else do you explain it.
I left the outer edges more or less the way they were. I gave them more angle and a slight curve. Then textured them. The top was flat so I left it that way just cleaned it up a little.
Finished with 4 coats of Minwax wipe on Poly that was steel wooled out then buffed with the bealle buffing system.

Oh wow!

I love the figure and the contrast in color between the heartwood and sapwood! That must've be quite a dangerous propeller blade spinning around while you turned it! Those odd shaped bowls have got to be a challenge! Thanks for sharing!

Yea I couldn't even see the outer wing. I had to feel it with the bevel and then lift the tool to start the cut. Quite fun.
