I'm wanting to build a toybox for our 3 month old, yes I know its early. I have just really gotten started in fine woodworking and haven't really done many projects with box joints or dovetails.

As I looked through plans I didn't see these joints used or recommended that much. Are they bad joints for this type of an item?

Dovetails are preferred over box joints just because the shape of the joint will prevent it from coming apart (for the most part). But for a 3 year old it won't be a big deal.
