Has anyone ever made an urn? I am almost done with one I made for my son in law who recently lost his dog. Do I need to seal it in any way. I mean seal it for any leaks that may result in ashes spilling. It’s not going to be buried, just a mantle piece.

Tom, the crematorium usually provides cremains in a very tough
plastic bag. you will know when you have the ashes.
ashes should never "leak" or "spill" out of an urn.
some photos of your urn will spark some suggestions for sealing the lid.
my brother made his wife an urn the size of a large mayonnaise jar to fit inside.
(she didn't want any peeping noseybodies opening the urn and spilling the ashes.
so far, she has four of her pet dogs in it.

Hi Tom,

Great idea & super urn. Been wondering what to do with our family cat's ashes. Now I know. If you don't mind me asking, what materials & finish did you use?
