I am working with a birch plywood. I apply a dye stain over the entire board. Afterwards, I use a Frog tape on top of the stain to paint certain shapes. Once the painting is complete, I apply a water based Poly Acrylic top coat. The problem is sometimes the stain will either come up through the paint or will bleed over onto the paint, especially white. Can I use a sealer on top of the stain, but still be able to put Frog tape on top of, without messing the sealant or the stain up?

This is a cornhole board project. I am using a standard Valspar Latex paint and I am spraying on a Minwax PolyAcrylic Top coat.
