I'm cutting out tenons on my table ends for the breadboard ends. I'm using my plunge router, with a larger auxiliary base plate (12x12", I think), and a half inch spiral upcut bit. I used my straight edge to make the first cut square and straight. And then started working out towards the table edge to cut out the rest.
But as I get closer to the edge of the table, the router wants to tip. I've been trying to keep it level with counter pressure on the other side, but it's far from perfect. And if I accidentally tip it ever so slightly, it just barely throws off the depth of the cut.
Is there a better/easier way to do this? Do I need a comically large base on it? Is there a jib that makes this easier? Any advice and tips or comments is welcome. Thanks.
