Hello brothers. Looking for some homade type thistle seed bird feeders.

Seems the ones I purchase at the box stores are made out of danged thin plastic. The sun deteriorates them all each season.

Looking for suggestions on how to make my own here.

Thanks in advance for help.

I would think some clear plastic for the body with small holes and a wire hook. I used an old coat hangar.

Our thistle seeds come from Ethiopia. wonder if they are collected wild or grown instead of food crops.

PVC DWV pipe works/lasts, but looks like :glare:

Plastic for the feed hole is about the only material that wont swell and clog. You can use a hollow log:laughing: (or whatever wood) if the feed holes are plastic.

The Ethiopians aint harvesting thistle by hand.
My guess, the land is leased, equipment provided and the Ethiopians do the work.
What is Ethiopian wage?
Not much I bet.
