used craftsman TS

hello, I'm looking at used saws and was wondering if this was a bit too high. I live out in San Diego and been seeing a range from 80 to 300 on the older models.

Feel free to start your own thread. After looking at that saw, it's got the old angle iron for fence rails with the terrible fence. I wouldn't pay more than $100 for it in perfect shape, but I'd recommend holding out for a better saw. We've discussed this earlier in this very thread.

Thanks, I'll take that as a no go in your opinion. This is a redundant question but what is holding out for a good saw? I was depot today looking at the rigid 4512 but just not sure if I want to spend the money based on my needs. I'm mainly a weekend-home-project-guy once in a while but would love to get into woodwork.

To "hold out" is to "hold out hope." Hold out hope that you will find a better deal on a saw. While the 4512 is a good saw from what I've read, I don't know if I'd spend $550 on it, either. The key to finding a good deal on craigslist is persistent, frequent checking.

The saws pictured have good potential, but they benefit a lot from a new fence, so figure another $200 into the equation to make it right.

This is a nice saw for $350:

This one's not as nice, but it's got potential and is in nice shape...I'd offer $150. The brand name is nearly irrelevant with this one.....it's made by Mao Shan who made the older Grizzly, Jet, AFF, Omega, Ohio Forge, and many other brands.

This craftsman one with the bisermeyer fence is a good deal in my opinion. The fence is worth that alone.
