Here is a quick project with left over scrap. Great gift item that is pretty cool. Length is whatever you want to make it. I just trimmed down some scrap to 3/4 x 3/4". Cut some one inch pieces for in between and glued it up. Ran it through the drum sanders and then moved to finish it.

Beautiful and creative use of scraps. Like walnut and the design and finish is great. A great idea to include in the centerpiece. Great job!

This is delicate. Over clamping here will really mess up the project. Let the glue do the work. The hand clamps were barely adding pressure.

This is how I clamped it. I am sure some of the more experienced members could do this better. But it worked for me.

What a great idea to use leftover stuff. I have some 1" poplar that I used for board and batten. This would be nice in the kitchen.
