It looks like they have the frame holding the mirror against the beadboard. I'd say do the same.
So do I notch the frame to make it? I wasn't sure how to frame the mirror?

Yes, cut a rabbet on the inside of the frame. Just like building a door with a glass panel insert, but the rabbet is only deep enough for the mirror.

I would make the wood frame wide enough so you can secure it to the main panel with screws from behind. This will hide your hardware, plus allow you to replace the mirror in case it shatters.

That sounds like a plan. Thank you. Would a slot cutting bit do the trick?
