Thanks in advance...

I built a simple shelving unitl about 5 ft high to house my tools as I do t have a garage.

I put my turkey fryer and old oil on top. I looked today and I guess over the last month oil has been seeping down my wood 2 x 4's and shelves. Most of the wood is just greasy. But one long 2x4 is about 20% black looking.

I dont want to replace that segment but I will if you think it is somehow dangerous (ie maybe mold).

What do you think? I can post a pic later.

Cooking oil will eventually turn rancid so I'd think about replacing it sooner than later.

Here at 53N, there's a hard black mold/fungus which eventually disfigures outdoor woods which have been finished with linseed oil and the like.
cabinetman has it right = bite the bullet and clean/rebuild/replace all the greasy wood.
Put the turkey cooker thing on a secondhand cookie sheet.
