I worked with it when I was making humidors in the early through mid nineties. I lined all of them with 1/8" - 3/16" so I worked with it quite a bit. I never saw anything like the sheen I see in your picture. Maybe it is just the light reflection but I never saw anything like that.
The whole point of the Spanish cedar in a humidor was to have that classic humidor smell (and superior moisture absorption to other cedars) so of course I never finished any of it so I can't speak to that.
