Our turning club along with another local turning club sponsors a turning competition each year. One of my peppermills took first in the spindle class and 2nd runner up for best in show. These are some of the prizes. Doug Thompson donates some tools for prizes. Very nice of him. I won an aluminum tool handle which he engraved, and also two of his turning tools, along with a couple of nice bowl blanks and some cash. Always like getting some of Doug's tools.

Awesome, have you posted a pic of the pepper mill?
I'm sure I did when I made it. It was 15" tall and out of figured maple. Last year my flame box elder peppermill took first also.

There was a lot of bowls entered this year. One of my fluted-edge ambrosia maple bowls took 5th.
