A casual conversation took an unexpected turn and I might have walked into a deal which would justify a "desktop" size CNC unit (about 2x3 foot working area). This would initially be needed to make plexiglass shields with cutouts, but then would be free for my woodworking hobby in my basement shop.

Because this was an unexpected turn of events I haven't yet done much research into the different brands/options available. The unit I've seen the most advertising for is the CNC Shark sold by Rockler, but that may only mean they have the best advertising. Their Black Diamond unit appealed to me because of its size and the fact that it is built to handle a Porter Cable 890 router which I'm familiar with.

Can anyone offer opinions on the different options or point me at credible reviews?
