I've recently got back into woodworking and have a bunch of of sanding belts that go on a 6 " shopsmith belt sander. they are at least 15 years old. Every time I put one one the belt breaks. Is there any tupe of glue that I can glue them back together.
I suppose there are glues plenty capable of withstanding the strain but you'd have to find a material to line the inside of the belt to give the glue sufficient surface area to adhere. More trouble than just buying new I would think.
I agree with the last post. If they are breaking like that the backing material is most likely no good anymore (like rubber cracking over time). If you did find a way to glue them together they would most likely break again somewhere else.
