Does anyone know what kind of make-believe math they use in order to claim their shop vacs develop 5-6 horsepower on a single phase 125 volt circuit?
If you assume 100% efficiency, without losses due to friction and heat, you need 750 watts of power to make one horsepower.
My shop vac is allegedly 6.25 hp.
6.25 x 750 = 4,687.5 watts
Divided by 125 volts = 37.5 amps.
But it'll not only run just fine on a 20 amp breaker, it'll do it while other things are also running on the same breaker.
I've operated my shop vac and table saw at the same time, plugged into the same outlet for example.
