What do you mean secure, is someone going to steal it. If you mean to keep it from dancing around the floor just add weight, make a more stable base, or bolt it to the floor. There's been a lot of discussion on bolting it to the floor and both sides weigh in pretty strongly for and against. My thinking is that on light weight inexpensive lathes you might do more harm to the lathe or yourself if you bolt it down. On large good quality lathes bolting it down probably won't hurt it.
