In need of some advice.

is it possible to wire a dimming switch into the power cord of the scroll saw? My saw doesn't have a speed controller on it. It is a craftsman 18" single speed scroll saw.

Hmmm, dimmer switch doesn't sound promising. It would need to match (and exceed) the current of your saw's motor. There are several speed controls on the market that are made for routers and scroll saws. I believe MLCS sells a few.

Amazon has some.. Just make sure the amperage of the controller exceeds the amperage of your motor.

A dimmer switch will work, but only for a short period of time. It will not be able to handle the load and will heat up and burn out. It is simply not rated to handle motor control. There are after market rheostat controls that you can get as the others have said.
