On end grain my router is really burning the wood. I am taking light passes and am going slow but it still burns the heck out of it. Can this be the sign of a worn bit?

Scotts right, think about it if you slow down but the machine is still going the same speed you present the cutting edge to the same place more often.Chances are you will burn it,get every thing right and the bit is dull chances are you will still burn it. Billy.

It was the speed. And thank you very much.

My table router is a fixed speed and it's fast. I went with my handheld and adjusted it slow and it worked like a charm. Thanks again!
