Hi all.
I looked at some lumber last night from a local guy. I picked up some red oak, ash. He also had a few large pieces of poplar, 12/4 x8” x11'. The poplar had some cracks running down the center of the face. I didn't look too hard at em because I already had the oak and ash. With the cracks do you all think these would be worth resawing? Is there a good metric for determing if the boards would be useful.

The red oak and ash have been reserved for a proper workbench :)

I do not know what projects you had in mind for the wood.

I posted in the Turning forum about how to folks use scraps. Lots of uses for even small pieces of wood.

If my scraps are too small for my flatwork projects, they may be useful in my turning projects.

I would cut the cracks out and then glue the pieces back together as needed for a project.
