I purchased some rough cut lumber from an Amish fellow. He told me the boards were sawed from what once were large telephone poles. The boards are 10 inch stock and are very nice. They have a reddish orange color to them. The Red Cedar I usually see has more light / dark contrast than this does. I am used to working with White Cedar, this is a little more dense and heavier than the White. Can anyone tell me for sure this is red cedar? Is there is more than one type of Red Cedar?
Thanks

Same here. I always thought they where pine are well. They are clearly not pine. Apparently some telephone poles are made from red Cedar.
