I found a big wide and long plank in a small outbuilding behind our house when we moved in. It was 2 1/2" thick 16" wide and 14' long. It had been used for years as a work bench. I cut it into smaller pieces then resawed it. It was quarter sawn white oak. There was no pith in the log so I figured the tree had to be at least 36 inches across.
