looking for “free” DL..
rebelwork i don't have a printable porch swing plans but i do have pictures of swings i have built. if i can figure out how to post pictures on here i will do so. Swings is something i've always liked to build, western red cedar and white oak are my go to wood for a swing. have a great day
There are a few out there. Some better than others. I thought by now there would be some easy to follow , get er done plans. Looks like their still trying to “Cash in” on the hobby woodworker movement.
I remember when I worked for Gary White Cabinets. His 4x8 shop table had a picnic table layout drawn in marker on the table. He said he gets called all the time to make treated picnic tables and it saved time.
I need to make a layout and pass it out for free..
These probably aren't quite what you are looking for, but might help:

They don't print real well, but might help your brainstorming. I have not made these myself, but have used this website several times while thinking about project ideas.

Looking more like Winter project, but I’m a
ready full for winter. I’m thinking when the heat in July hits and the shop door goes down I may have to start molding parts.
It’s like I have a full time job anoint I ain’t even got a job..
Rebel, with your experience you should be able to sketch a swing pattern/plan with no trouble. For my swings and rockers, the basic seat, arms & backrest frame consists of roughly 14 smallish boards.... and the rest are slats. For comfort the seat should be about 20"-21" deep..... if you have a porch rocker and it's comfortable, measure how deep its seat is. Angle of backrest to seat should be 7° tilting back.
Sonny

Even if the seat is contoured, you want the backrest angle to be 7°

https://flic.kr/p/Dh3Nff My rockers have similar design features as the swings I've made. On almost all my seating, I like my comma shaped arms, rather than straight edged ones. If you make your armrests comma shaped, cut/fit your joints first (especially the arm-to-backrest joint) before cutting the comma profile.

I just wanted the easy way out.
I just wanted the easy way out.
Doesn't get any easier than this.
The plans only require you to know one dimension, the length of the 2X4's you wish to use.

The local Boy Scout Troop was selling these as a fund raiser project. I got a pair of "bench style" (w/legs) and a pair styled to be hung as a swinging bench (no legs).

Still looking around for some free plans..Treated lumber is still drying, but rotating the boards every few days.I let all my 8’ stock sit all summer for the chairs , but may need to steal a boar or two for a swing…
It’s kinda a joke. Downloaded one. It doesn’t give a drawing with dimensions, it just shows a picture of the parts without a grid. Downloaded another , but wouldn’t give me the pictures with the scale. This is really a joke for DIYers like myself..

How long do you give them to dry before your comfortable to work with them
For the Adirondacks I give them a whole season. For the swing, probably a few weeks..I’ll steal the longest parts from the Adirondack stack as it’s been sitting 2 months..

DIY pallet swing bed

Swinging has to be my all time favorite childhood activity. And swinging while laying down? A lazy girl’s dream come true! And how dreamy this bed is. I could easily spend my days here, swinging the summer away.
There are a number of ways you can make these swing beds. They can be as simple as just using a pallet and rope. This DIY is for the specific way we made ours, which was to fit a twin size mattress. It still was a very simple and quick project, even with a few extra steps.

It’s getting hot here in KC. I may hop in the garage here in a few days and take advantage of the ait conditioned shop.

I keep reading 12-15 degrees on the back of the swing. I’m assuming you can also adjust the chain a bit to give or take a degree. What’s been your experience on porch swings?
Once you hang the swing, then you'll feel its comfort when you sit in it. Adjust the chains for your family's best comfort, not necessarily a particular angle. Yes. a swing at rest will be about 15°, same as a rocking chair at rest.

The length of the lower chains will dictate how easy your angle adjustment will be. Short length lower chains are problematic. You don't want too short of lower chains. My swing has 6.5' of lower chain each side, a few extra links hanging loose on the back eye bolts.

At hanging rest, the top/crown edge of the front of the swing's seat should be even/same level as your/your wife's knee cap.... center of the knee cap.
