Plywood for glueing felt for outdoor poker table. What would be the best plywood for the job? This would be an insert that I could take out if needed. And would be covered if not taken out. I live in charleston SC , so it would get exposed to high humidity levels. As seen in the pic it's a small insert. I want a full insert for the table!

It is only going to be 25" x 70"
So how thick and best plywood to use, and if I should seal or not?
A plastic board would just cost too much!

Pressure treated plywood I've bought has warped badly. If it was secured to a stable and flat surface, that may work. I'm assuming there would never be a time when the felt panel would be left outdoors, exposed to rain.

Cement board would handle the elements but you may want to install a thin sheet of foam under the felt. Something like what is used for laminate flooring might work.

I would use 2 pieces of 1/2" ply, laminated (face-glued) together, with six 1/4-20 tee-nuts embedded between the layers. That would allow me to secure it to the frame from below, which would help keep it from warping. It would also allow me to take it off and clean it or re-cover or replace it should something happen to it.

I would also paint the ply after laminating it but before covering it with some durable exterior paint to help protect it from the humidity.

In Charleston you should not have any problems getting marine grade plywood.

I think any ply you use like that will warp at least a little. I like Julie's suggestion of cement board and some kind of pad under it.

You would think that , but nobody has any! Not even my boat building buddy down the street @ Sea Island Boat Works,they have Starboard but its to much, but it would resolve all my problems, I may just shell out the money and be done.

I'd go with LDF. They make and paint signs on it. Flat and won't warp. Cheap and hard.

My thoughts go to the felt. What is it going to look like when it gets wet? Treated or marine grade plywood would work but should be leveled and painted first before applying the felt.

Checking the web I found Overtons sell marine grade plywood. The add said free shipping on orders over $50 which should not be a problem exceeding on any good plywood.

It's done

1/2" thick sheet of MDO CUT AND ROUTED EDGES ON BOUTH SIDES AND SEALED . It's smooth as glass, the cell foam padding and felt will lay great.
