I'm always hearing "if there aren't pictures, it didn't happen", so here goes. These are my efforts at some mills using crush-grind mechanisms. Thanks to all who have generously provided the advice and guidance that got me to this point. The cocobolo one was sanded using micro mesh and polished. The rest are all finished using General Finishes Woodturner's Finish. Some were left at gloss, others rubbed out using either steel wool or Renniasance wax.

Thanks again to all who provided help, guidance and advice.

They all look great. I really like the shape on the first one.

That's sort of funny in a way to me. The "first one" was the first one I made ever. I was really kind of winging it. I actually made drawings for the rest. Also, the first one is mesquite and I really expected the grain to be a little more exciting, so I find it a little boring. It's also te first thing I ever finished with the General Finishes Woodturner's finish, so I used the finish straight out of the bottle. After that, I added some amber dye to the finish. It helps pop the grain a litte more in figured woods. I'm not sure it would have helped in the mesquite; that piece was pretty straight grained.
