My club had Jimmy Clewes this week. It inspired me to get some of my old blanks finished. I roughed this pecan bowl last year and it turned out ok. It's about 10x4 and I went with a semi-closed rim. I softened the outside edge, and left the inside edge "sharp". Criticisms welcome.
Yes, those are hard to sand out as well. If I could conquer that technique it would be a game changer. Did get advise from clewes on grinding the heel off of your gouge to reduce these. Practice, practice, practice.
