How well does Pine take paint? I've always heard that most use Poplar for framework when painting because it covers so well. But what about Pine?

What kind of pine? SYP.... white?

White pine is native around here so it gets used a lot for painted trim.
If it's knotty pine, it's usually polyurethaned.

Knots bleed through paint.....even with Bin or Kilz

The best paint job I have gotten on pine is after I had applied 2 coats of shellac and had sanded the shellac with 320. I didn't use any other primer just 2 coats of paint.
