Hi there!

I want to build a large outdoor table with a slab top, live edges, and iron table bases.

I have access to Cedar, Fir, Cherry, Maple, and Birch.

I plan for this table to live outside uncovered in the Pacific Northwest 24/7/365.

Reccomendations on species and finishing would we GREATLY appreciated.

Cedar weathers well. So does white oak.

Fir will be really splintery. Cedar does well outside. I think that you're going to have problems with a big slab wanting to cup, though. You might think about ripping it into 6" planks and running a shiplap joint on the edges.
