I am thinking about making an outdoor picnic table out of hardwood that I will be milling this spring with my chainsaw mill. The table would be kept outside under an overhand so out of the rain. Do I have to make sure this wood is cured or for this type of project can the wood be green?

After milling, the wood will start drying faster and, as it does, it will start moving. It's likely to warp, crack, and check in places. If it's already fastened together as a project, it's going to be a disaster. If you let it air dry for a year first, it should be fine.

Wood for exterior projects can have a somewhat higher moisture content and be okay (say around 15%), but green wood is too much.
