Looking for a little advice. I'm building a cooler stand that is meant to stay outdoors for the summer and fall. It will have a hinged lid and I'm thinking I should go stainless to prevent rust. Problem is that the only stainless hinges I can find are boring. That's only a small problem. I can deal with boring hinges, but I'd like some hardware for holding the lid up so that it doesn't flop backwards and that doesn't seem to exist in stainless. Am I being overly cautious? Will other finishes hold up equally well? Does anyone have a source other than lee valley, woodcraft, or rockler for more hardware selection?

I wouldn't recommend brass either. Stainless would be the way to go. You've likely already done a search, so I'm not going to list a bunch of common search links. There's not much of a selection in stainless. Some of them are very basic but effective, like this one.
