Hi, Guys.
I made a couple of end tables with cookies for tops. On one of the tops I put a sea turtle in the epoxy and didn't bury it deep enough such that when I went to route and finish the top, the top of the turtle's shell got displaced. There is a color difference in the shell because of this. How would you go about trying to rectify it. I thought about just selling as is. The only thing that I could think of was painting the top a color as close as possible to the color of the shell and then pouring epoxy for the finish. The issue is that I already really like the finish that I have. Any ideas or suggestions.

Leave it as is and seal it with some CA. Pretend the turtle has a tattoo?????

Blend some acrylic paint then re-epoxy.

What about getting another turtle, cutting the top off the shell and gluing it onto the one in the table? The table won't be perfectly flat anymore but it could give it a cool 3D effect.

How about gluing on a little turtle riding on Mamma's back? Or a little frog holding a sign that says "Thanks for the lift"

You could just remove the turtle and refill the hole with epoxy.

If you get a source of really hot air, like 350 degrees (I use the hot air gun on my soldering station) you can heat up cured epoxy and it will crumble out by prying with a pick or a small screwdriver.

I repair electronics and we have circuit boards embedded in epoxy and we do this all the time, heat the epoxy and it will get soft and you can pick/pry/remove it in small chunks. As soon as it cools off it turns back into rock hard cured epoxy again so you have to alternate between heating it up and prying some of it out then repeat.

Once we have enough cleared we replace the part on the circuit board and then we clean up the hole a little and pour fresh epoxy into it back up to the previous level. I don't look that cloesely but I've always thought you couldn't tell that we had been in there. Maybe try it on a piece of scrap first to be sure you can't tell.
