Ok so I went on craigslist and found this oak changing table that I really like for my babies nursery but it doesn't match my cherrywood crib. Is it stupid to buy this and attempt to stain it to try and make it look like the crib. Sorry if this is a stupid question I would just like to know before I buy it.

I don't see why you couldn't do it. It's no different than refinishing Amy other wood product.

If you have to match the color exactly it would probably be better if you had a professional refinisher do it. If you can live with getting the color close there is no reason you could refinish the changing table. You might post a picture of the piece of furniture you are trying to match so someone can give you a hint on the stain to use. Matching a color takes a lot of trial and error and a experienced finisher would have more supplies to make matching a color easier.
