hi everyone i have never done any woodworking but am an avid fisherman. i airbrush fishing lures and now want to make my own lures out of mahogany or jeutolong. i want them to be thru wire lures using a stainless steel wire from .051-0.60 size my
main question is im not sure what type of tool i should use to cut such a small slot to lay the wire in? how these type of lures is normally made is on a lathe or shaper. then the lure is cut in half and then a small slot is cut to lay the wire in and then the two halves of the lure is glued back together. the slot and wire is not straight though because it is bent in a few spots to use for hook hangers and to connect youre line too. what type of tools would i need to cut a shallow accurate slot? any info much appreciated!!
