Hello, my name is Pedro, and I'm from Spain. I would like to get started in woodworking as my new hobby. In my city (Madrid) there aren't any type of woodworking schools or courses, which are hobby oriented. I've only found courses for professionals. So I think I'm going to have to learn by myself. Does any of you know of any good DVD to get started?.I'm interested in something that covers the whole process: from design to finishing. My main interest is to learn how to build boxes and other small wooden objects.

Thanks.

I know it's not DVDs, and not en Espaniol, but you might try the Fine Woodworking Magazine website. They were advertising some great getting started in woodworking videos for free. I watched a few and should have bookmarked them. They simply rocked. I am going to subscribe to that magazine because of those videos and articles. They are already making me a better woodworker...

Jon, your link is misspelled. Here's a correction: http://www.antiquesbuiltdaily.com/

Petesurfer, welcome to the forum. Madrid is a beautiful city but I definitely have never seen anything resembling a place for hobbyists to practice or learn the craft.

Try doing some searching around youtube also. Several folks have posted some really good links to instructional videos they've put up there.

petesurfer,

The banner ad for that getting started in woodworking video series finally popped back up...

I sure hope this helps...

It actually makes me want to make a simple cutting board...
Thank you so much, it's exactly what I need. I imagine the videos on the webpage are a sample or extract of longer and more detailed videos they have somewhere. The thing is I don't know if these last ones can be bought on DVD's or if they are only visible online through the payment of a membership fee.
