Hello to everyone.

I want to say hi and say a little about myself. I am very new to woodworking and am a retired/disabled machinist by trade. I have some fairly good equipment(I think) including a table saw, sliding miter saw, dual base rigid router and and assortment of both 1/4 and 1/2 shank bits.

Made a few small projects that have turned out OK for my own use but no where near the quality to sell or make for somebody else.

I am looking forward to hearing what others here have to say and recommend to a newbie

Happy woodworking..

Welcome Don - this is a great site to join. I'll give you the same advise I give to all new woodworkers...

Don't go out and buy tools until you're involved in a project and you need a tool you don't have. When you do buy tools, buy good quality tools.

To start - build yourself a nice workshop. If you don't already have one - build a good sturdy, flat workbench. It doesn't have to be a fancy expensive European workbench, just a good flat surface you can clamp things on and build. Already have a bench? Then how about a router table, or tool cabinet, or sanding table, sharpening station... The nice thing about building shop fixtures is that you get to practice all kinds of joinery and if you don't get it perfect, you still end up with a useful shop fixture. I still have the 1st drawer cabinet I made and the drawers still stick - but it's home to an assortment of tools and I'm constantly reminded of the progress I've made.
Welcome to the forum. PICS ! We must have pics ! Love to see what you've been up to.
