Hello all, our Aussie based forum is down for upgrade so I was directed to this site, great to be here. :yes:

Here are a couple of shots of a new box just completed. The timbers are Western Qld Beefwood and Budgeroo (tan). Base is lined in pig skin.

PS The box was made complete then I routed the top off. Hinges are wooden, my design, hand carved/sanded with hidden pin. Corner treatments were to hide the vertical insert of Budgeroo.

Great work on the box. I like the hinges - nice touch. Is the box for anything in particular?

No it started as a cigar box and then became a desktop box to put things in , you know one of those usefull "I'll put it here and see how I use it boxes." :laughing:

Thanks for the positive comments. By the way, jodiemeglio the tiled floor is a table.

I am fascinated by the wooden hinges. Is there a closeup picture of them?

His last post was in 2007, so I'm guessing he's not coming back. Sorry. Do a search for wood hinges, and you should find some. I did some not long ago out of spalted maple.

I'm Back!!! Thanks Dominick. Well a great blast from the past, someone sent me an email!

ThomasOSB I have attached some more wooden hinges made over the last few years, I find them easier to fit, as stong and certainly more appealing to the end user! All the best.

Not only are the hinges cool, but them boxes are gorgeous.
