Hi, I'm new to the forum so let me welcome myself. I got a hand on this drill press, but it looks like I need to replace the chuck. I need help Identifying the right part. It is a tapered spindle. I didn't measure it precisely yet, as I was hoping to find the manual. The label says it is a "Empire Drilling Machine" The model number\type is DM - 1/2 - 5S. Where I guess DM stands for Drilling Machine. 1/2 is Horse powers of the motor and 5S is the number of speeds. The label says device was manufactured in Colorado. To me it looks like it is a re-branded another popular model. I was unable to find any documentation or reference to the "Empire Drilling Machines".

Thank you in advance!

That is a good starting point. I'll measure it and compare to the specs of the JT3. Thank you!

Interesting. I have one that is Duracraft. I bought it at home depot about 1983. According to the parts manual the chuck does have a JT-33 taper. According to the label on the side of it, it was made in Taiwan.
