And I am hooked officially.

The first is spalted chocolate silver ambrosia maple..or at least that's what the guy selling it on ebay called it.

The other is just an acrylic blank a gentleman threw in when I purchased some other lathe items from him.

Both finished with just paste wax that I had on hand already.

Any suggestions on barrel trimmers?

Very nice! I enjoy making pens also. Barrel trimmers are good, but for the final clean up i use a sanding disc on my lathe and a set of harbor freight center punches with a drill chuck on the tail stock. I get a much cleaner and uniform end.

I saw a video using that technique.
