I have some bowls that I turned and used mineral oil when sanding works great to keep the dust down and makes for some fast sanding as well. To my question can I put anything over the top of these bowls the oil is taking on a dry look although I realize mineral oil never really dries. varnish or schellac thanks for helping out.

Shellac would make a good barrier coat or finish over the bowls however you need to wash as much of the mineral oil out of the wood as possible first. Lacquer thinner would be a good solvent to use. I would recommend in the future if you are going to use a film finish over your turned wood that you don't use mineral oil on it.
